I'm more of a Sci-fi fellow than Fantasy, but Peter Jackson's LoTR ranks up well enough. Easy ticket for me.

I liked it quite a lot. Though, from what my brother told me, part 1, of 3, covered 3/4 of the book. Jackson will be adding his own to the story it seems.

I didn't hate it, but I had just watched Season 2 of Game of Thrones which is a more dark-themed fantasy so by comparison Hobbit seemed possibly too childish.

But I was still entertained so it's all good, will likely see the next installment on it's release

If one of the antagonists of the 1st movie isn't dead by the 1st movie's end, he'll get slain in the next one, and if not there, the one after that.

I'm not talking Smaug, either, although he's a focal antagonist.

I agree, a good film. The "Riddles in the Dark" scene was great
