Post by Zevroid Fri Dec 13, 2013 1:30 am

So, I am an artist. A beginner artist. Very beginner. Now, lately, I have felt a ton of motivation and just got drawing sketches and stuff, but just recently I got into the habit of actually COLORING my work. So, I've decided to bring some of it here, for the total of three or four people that come here often enough to see!

WARNING: This post contains a Ninja, an evil clone, and a HOLY MOTHER GOD Demon Villain.

    Here there be art!:

Did I forget to mention that I'm something a writer as well?

    Not bad.

Did you air brush the color in or something?

The way you did it looks good.

The colors are all completely digital. I used the frosted glass effect in Paint.NET (basically a poor man's Photoshop, but it works well enough) to get the look of these pictures. I don't have access to airbrushes or any actual art equipment outside of pencils. Basically, all of these pictures started off as sketches, which I then scanned into the computer, and through the miracle of layers I was able to give them these colors.

Oh, and while I'm still here:

Still, the frosted look suits them.

    Nice Christmas picture too.

I have DeviantArt Account. I wrote a bit a of short beginning to a story I'm writing (it's the story about the characters I've designed here) and submitted it.

    Story Prologue.

    Yay.

    Yes, yes I am.

Just need to work on a better title. I mean, "The Ninja Warrior" may have a nice ring to it, but it's just not terribly creative...Not when I compare it to "Tales of Holndra" and "The Nightmare Child" (both previous works of mine that I did for school).

    No Mercy!:
This is a character I previously created known as Mercy Flagston (also goes by the nickname "No Mercy" Flagston). Mercy was created as the primary antagonist of another project of mine that I've been trying to revive. She is a ghostly being who normally appears as a girl wearing a white dress and seems friendly (the side with a blue eye), but when she decides to stop pretending to be something she isn't, the colors of her dress invert, revealing a blood-stained black dress and effectively reveals what she truly is. She is a mass-murdering psycho path, lacking in any sense of morals and showing no mercy to those she slaughters. Ultimately her plan is to destroy the world--as the saying goes, "Some people just want to watch the world burn..."

...Or perhaps there's more to her story?

EDIT: Also pictured is her ability to shift her arms into bladed weapons, in this case a sword.

A 10 second SFM short, which is basically my general reaction to Sentry Busters in Mann VS Machine--grab my Sentry and run like hell!

EDIT: Also, a heads up--in my drawn stuff, my art style has a tendency to shift. I always go for cartoony, but it is varying levels depending on what I feel is the best and easiest for me to work with. Basically, next time you see Mercy, she may not be drawn in the same style as she was above.

Source Filmmaker, actually. Basically free, but more limited GMod. GMod Lite, you might say.

Anyway, I believe that this may be my best picture yet...Although I did notice one little error.
    Click this! Click it NOW!
I seem to have drawn her left foot incorrectly. Oh well.

What prompted me to draw this one was, well...The previous pictures of her (the cute, chibi cartoony ones) were nice, but they made her look like a child. So I decided to draw another picture of her in a style that better reflects her age. She's supposed to be fifteen, just to make myself clear.

And as usual, I can't draw backgrounds at all.

Not bad, the background isn't too bad either.

It doesn't seem like you'd have needed much for a background anyways.

    New project: "Strange Nights"

"Strange Nights" is my newest project. Sort of a "mystery/horror" cartoon focusing on the exploits of Jenny B. Hallows, the main protagonist.
In the above link is several bits of concept art of both Jen (the only human in the picture) and several of the monsters/ghosts/demons she encounters in her investigations of the paranormal, along with two symbols related to an overarching plot, and her grandfather's journal, which is where she gets most of her knowledge of the supernatural. I took some creative liberties with things like the Vampire (a spider-bat monster rather then some weird dead guy), and I haven't completely sorted out the main plot.

BUT, what I have sorted out is this: Jen is following in the footsteps of her grandfather, who was labeled insane and constantly mocked right to the day he died. She always believed in his stories, and so she set out to prove him right--living by his words, she set out to find the truth.

    His words? Well:
"People will always seek answers, but rarely will they seek the truth."

Oh so much thought...I often worry that this is all going to waste.

So what happens when I put a good two hours into fifteen seconds of animation, am impressed with how well it came out, want someone other than my brother to view it, and remember I have account on this site?...

    Okay, stupid question.

    I think I did well.

EDIT: Oh, and even Stranger Nights.

Yes, but it's not a name they can copyright.

Mostly I chose it because it means "Hard Working Child" in Japanese. That or "Thunder." Different sources claim different things.

I don't know why I bother continuing to bump this thread. Oh well.

One of my newest creations, a villain for Nariko. Leiko, the White Fox!

It's just a sketch right now, but once I have a proper art program installed on this thing, I'll get right to work on coloring it.

I'll admit, I tend to lose track of time when I really get into my work. But if I had to guess how long it took me, a good hour or two sounds about right. I know I took a while just figuring out the posing on her legs and then on her upper body...
